INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MINOR FRUITS, MEDICINAL AND AROMATIC PLANTS (ISMFM&AP – 2019)
on 04th to 6th September 2019 at Institute for Agro-Technology & Rural Science, University of Colombo.

Minor fruits, medicinal and Aromatic plants provide number of benefits to human health bysupplying essential nutrients, chemical compounds which are lack in other dietary foods. Some of the underutilizing fruits have a medicinal value in which capable to prevent serious illnesses like cancers even have no western medicine. Some of them able to develop a stronger immunity within the human body for help to tolerate most of the day today illnesses. Medicinal plants are one of the important crop category in Agriculture because it has a higher demand in nowadays even in western countries. Most of the people even in developed countries had shifted from western medicine to ayurvedic medicine because of the minimum side effects and the trustworthiness of the permanent cure. Food industry is one of a main key industry in any country which has a significant impact on the countries’ health, nutritional and economical state. Development of natural foods and beverages are common in nowadays having rapid demand for them. Chemical free, pesticide free vegetables and fruits has a higher demand rather than other chemically grown ones. Natural pest control is essential action in that context which creates a higher demand for aromatic plants.The 5th ISMF, M & AP will provide a platform to share, discuss and exchange the research experience and views for the development of minor fruits, medicinal and aromatic plants in the world.
