FOREIGN STUDENTS

The number of places reserved for this category of students is limited and at present it is up to 5.0 % of the total number of places available in the course of study. Selection of candidates with foreign qualifications is based on the following order of priority;

1. Children of Sri Lankan diplomatic personnel who are/have been stationed in other countries.
2. Children of foreign diplomatic personnel working in Sri Lanka.
3. Applicants from SAARC countries who seek admission.
4. Sri Lankan applicants in foreign countries not covered under (a) above.
5. Other foreign applicants not covered under (b) or (c) above.

All selected candidates will be admitted on a fee-levying basis (refer to section 4) except for the candidates selected under Category (a) above.

The proposed intake in each course of study will be allocated to students who satisfy the criteria for admission described under section 2. 

A). Students’ eligibility will be considered based on their academic qualifications, aligning with the Sri Lankan framework. (Sri Lankan framework: Minimum passes in the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (G.C.E A/L) with National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) levels at 4).
Or
their educational qualifications are considered for admission to a university in their own country to follow an undergraduate course of study leading to a Bachelor’s Degree.

B). Applicants should ensure that all required passes are obtained in one and the same sitting under a recognized Board of Examinations subject to the rules set out by the Education Authority of the country concerned. The required subject streams are below,

Agriculture Science, Biological Science, or other related subject streams

C). Students are required to submit documentary proof, endorsed by relevant authorities in their respective countries, demonstrating proficiency in the English language.

Students who meet the criteria outlined in sections a, b, and c will undergo evaluation by a panel of members in the institute. The final decision on eligibility will be made following a virtual interview conducted by the institute.

Calling of applications for the Bachelor of Agro-technology Honours (BAgroTecHons) will be published in the press, social media, and the UCIARS website annually. Following such notices, prescribed application forms should be completed online, from the UCIARS website and forwarded to the Senior Assistant Registrar (SAR) of the UCIARS with payment of appropriate fees mentioned in section 3.
